Sophie-Charlotte Bombeck M.A. (*1991) lebt und arbeitet als freischaffende Kuratorin un Kunsthistorikerin in Augsburg und München. Sie forscht und publiziert zu theoretischen Fragestellungen zeitgenössischer Kunst, insbesondere zum Verhältnis von Kunst und Wissenschaft, Ästhetik und Gesellschaft. In kontinuierlichen Kollaborationen mit Künstler:innen untersucht sie dabei die Schnittstellen von 'in situ' Produktionen und künstlerischer Forschung.

Bombeck arbeitet mit zahlreichen Kunstinstitutionen zusammen, ist Direktorin des Kunstraum 'super+Centercourt' in München, Mitglied des internationalen Kollektivs 'Rhythmen Section' und seit 2023 im Vorstand des Kunstvereins Augsburg. 

Seit 2018 betreibt Sie zusammen mit Siyoung Kim ein Residenz Programm zwischen München und Korea in Kooperation mit der Stadt München, Goethe Institut, der Villa Waldberta und dem Gwangju Museum of Art

Als Kuratorin konzipiert und organisiert Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland, hält Vorträge und Workshops an verschiedenen Kunsthochschulen, darunter die Academy of Fine Arts Hubei (Wuhan, China), die Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (Guangzhou, China) und das Department of Fine Arts an der University of Hertfordshire (London, England), Seoul National University (Seoul, Südkorea).

Zuletzt übernahm Sie 2020 die künstlerische Leitung der ersten Biennale Lindau 2022 und kuratierte Ausstellungen wie "Des Stijl and the Future" im United Art Museum, Wuhan und OCT Boxes Museum, Shenzhen (China), "Ambiguous/Unambiguous", Platforms Project (Athen, Griechenland), "painting vs. image" Karşı Sanat, (Istanbul, Türkei), "SO NEAR YET SO FAR" mit den Künstlergruppen Rhythm Section, Merkezkaç Art Collective (Diyarbakır), Sanat-Kollektiv (Istanbul) im Palmenhaus der Villa Waldberta (München, Deutschland).

Sophie-Charlotte Bombeck M.A. (*1991) lives and works as a freelance curator and art historian in Augsburg and Munich. She researches and publishes on theoretical issues of contemporary art, in particular on the the relationship between art and science, aesthetics and society. In continuous collaborations with artists, she investigates the interfaces between in situ productions and artistic research.

 

Bombeck collaborates with numerous art institutions, is director of the art space 'super+Centercourt' in Munich, member of the international collective 'Rhythms Section' and since 2023 on the board of the Kunstverein Augsburg.

 

Since 2018 she has been running a residency programme between Munich and Korea together with Siyoung Kim in cooperation with the City of Munich, Goethe Institut, Villa Waldberta and the Gwangju Museum of Art.v

Most recently, in 2020, she took over the artistic direction of the first Lindau 2022 Biennale and curated exhibitions such as "Des Stijl and the Future" at the United Art Museum, Wuhan and OCT Boxes Museum, Shenzhen (China), "Ambiguous/Unambiguous", Platforms Project (Athens, Greece), "painting vs. image" Karşı Sanat, (Istanbul, Turkey), "SO NEAR YET SO FAR" with the artist groups Rhythm Section, Merkezkaç Art Collective (Diyarbakır), Sanat Collective (Istanbul) at the Palmenhaus of Villa Waldberta (Munich, Germany).
